7.5 cm Pak 40 (back side)

The 7.5 cm Pak 40 (7.5 cm Panzerabwehrkanone 40) was a German 7.5 centimetre anti-tank gun developed in 1939-1941 by Rheinmetall and used during the Second World War. Pak 40 formed the backbone of German anti-tank guns for the latter part of World War II. The most famous and widely used anti tank gun of the German army in World War II. With its 792 m/s (2,598 ft/s) (exiting speed of the bullet) it could penetrate 132 millimeters (5.2 in) of armor on a medium range, with these capabilities it was able to effectively fight against all the tanks the allied powers could provide.

The gun was mounted on a series of German tanks and anti tank vehicles. Starting with the Panzer IV., Marder I, III, Stug III, Jagdpanzer IV, its upgraded (longer version) made the standard weaponry of the Panzer V Panther and the stronger version of the Jagdpanzer IV. A hardly modified (into and auto cannon) version was even built in the Henschel hs 129 anit tank aircraft, this way being the biggest air plane mounted guns till nowadays.
